Because of the other thread I looked into this but the system for nobility is all fucked up. They really wanted to pigeon hole themselves and get their title out there. From culture to culture if follows the same basic outline but then the lower to the bottom you get the more convoluted the system is. Ever heard of a Thila? Well he's second in line to the throne in Serer pre-colonial kingdoms. Dont even know what that is, but if you're his first son and don't die in your childhood then you're set. You can be a Loul, which is third in line to the throne in Serer country.
I guess almost everyone would be considered a “Gentleman” because the nobility system isn't in place anymore in most countries. What i think is weird is that a knight is so low on the totem pole, for an honor only appointed to specific people its not very high on the ranks of things. Also what the hell is an esquire? Podrick would be considered more noble than everyone else.
Did you know that a baronet would be married to a Hereditary knight, but not a Baron. Our one any only Red Baron would be 2nd from the bottom. Which brings me to Bram Stoker, why didn't he make Dracula is higher rank. He could have been a duke! I just dont get it, but from now on i would like to be referred to Grand Duke Everett.
Heres the list if you're interested.
Emperor
King
Archduke
Grand Duke
Grand Prince Prince / Infante Duke
Sovereign Prince / Fürst
Marquess / Marquis / Margrave / Landgrave
Count / Earl
Viscount / Vidame
Baron
Baronet
Hereditary Knight
Knight
Esquire
Gentleman

Replying to OP:
Stoker had originally planned to call his villain Count Wampyr, before he apparently found a reference to Vlad Dracula and decided to use that name instead. Nobody is sure whether Stoker even knew that IRL Dracula was a Prince of Wallachia, and never lived in Transylvania.

@Parks:
He wasn't actually all that crazy, by the standards of the period.
AwYeah @super_legit
Replying to OP: Interesting that lawyers acquire the title Esquire when they graduate from law school, at least in the US.

@cannonofdoom: From what I've read and seen he seems fairly "normal" for that period of time.
AwYeah @super_legit
If you had to design a hierarchy system today, how would you arrange it? Who would be what?
