So recently during my medicine studies my friends and I saw something... remarkable...
We saw a little kid with MEASLES - a disease that was supposedly eradicated decades ago. The doctors that were in the hospital that day were baffled - most of them haven't seen measles in 30 years or haven't seen it at all. It was like seeing a ghoust.
In this particular case the kid was on vacation in Berlin. Apparently the anti-vaccines movement in Germany is pretty strong cause the little girl got infected there (as she wasn't vaccinated either) and came back with a disease known mostly from history books.
Long story short: thanks a lot Mr Andrew Wakefield for taking a huge step BACKWARDS for humanity.

I feel that should be mandatory regardless of beliefs even autism groups advocate for vaccinations and vaccines are supposed to cause autism

Replying to OP: Less of a ghost and more of a chicken with it's head cut off, as it's something that should be dead and is only still alive thanks to stupidity.
What are you studying?

@deadshadow:
My son has autism, and I did a ton of research into the supposed link between vaccines and autism. The TL,DR of it is that there is no link. The study that stated there was a link (that's right, of the literally thousands of studies that have looked for a link between autism and vaccines, only one said there was) was almost completely a fraud, with the lead doctor falsifying information, taking money from lawyers who wanted to bring a case against vaccine companies, and lying to the families of the 12 participating children. His lies have been exposed and he has had his doctoral license revoked. He is still held up as some sort of martyr figure by the anti-vax movement.
I HATE the anti-vaccination movement. Not only is it based on lies and ignorance, which is bad enough, it endangers all of our children. It's heinous.

@cannonofdoom: Yeah. I'm surprised there are people out there who still don't know that vaccine myth was pretty much debunked the same year it was brought up.

I like these videos and they're relevant, so here. They're pretty much everything you need to know about the topic.

@Kingnicolas6: The only vaccine you need is your boogers and fingernails, eat that shit and your good.

I would like to see the common cold eradicated in my lifetime. This is gonna be the third time this year if I catch it again.

The cold is a very mutate-able collection of viruses. There are so many varieties, infection vectors (including some bacteria!), and they mutate so quickly, that a vaccine would be almost impossible. It's similar to the issue with the flu vaccine, only a million fold.

@Bartek: Ok, that was my fault for asking that the way I did. I meant any particular field in medicine? Such as oncology, radiology, ophthalmology, neurology. Also, what did they end up doing with the kid, treatment wise?
Bartek
@AwYeah: I'm 3 years away from picking a specialization field - right now I'm thinking paediatrics or radiology, but first I have to finish my studies, pass a big final exam, get my diploma, get hired and then begin the specialization process on my own (which also ends up with an exam).
The kid's fine - there's no anti-virus drug for measles. You just administer some antipyretics and he'll recover on his own.
